4-Day Mid Range Safari to Manyara, Serengeti & Ngorongoro

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Your safari begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha around 8:00 AM. You will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and large troops of baboons. The shallow alkaline lake attracts flocks of flamingos and other water birds. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the Great Rift Valley escarpment and drive to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you'll head towards the Serengeti National Park, traveling through the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains. You will head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. You will arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti.

Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You will have an early morning game drive in the Serengeti. This is the best time to see predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs as they hunt in the cool of the morning. After a late breakfast, you will proceed with a game drive en route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will stop at Olduvai Gorge (optional, extra cost), a significant archaeological site. You will arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in the evening.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard. After lunch, you will ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha.
