Big 5 Safari

About Big 5 Safari

The "Big 5" refers to the five most difficult and dangerous animals to hunt on foot in Africa: the African Lion, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, African Leopard, and Rhinoceros. Today, seeing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is the ultimate goal for any safari enthusiast.

Tanzania is one of the few places on Earth where you can see all of the Big 5 in a single safari, sometimes even in a single day. From the vast plains of the Serengeti to the distinct crater floor of Ngorongoro, our expert guides will take you on a thrilling journey to encounter these legends of the wild.

The Big 5 Highlights

African Lion

The King of Beasts, often found in prides in the Serengeti.

African Elephant

The world's largest land mammal, famous in Tarangire and Ngorongoro.

Cape Buffalo

Known for their formidable horns and grouped in large herds.

African Leopard

The master of stealth, often spotted resting in acacia trees.

The best time depends on what you want to see. For the Great Migration river crossings, June to October is ideal (North). For calving season (baby wildebeest), visiting Ndutu (South) from January to March is recommended.

We recommend at least 3 to 4 days to truly appreciate the vastness of the Serengeti and increase your chances of seeing the Big 5 and the Migration.
